This house is not an old house since it was built to replace the Wilheit house which burned in 1912, but the grace of the fanlights, the strength of the columns, and the welcoming front porch with its wide rockers, mark it as one of the fine houses of Washington. The house was designed and built by Washington architect James B. Chafin who built many homes, schools and public buildings in northeast Georgia.
